Dalworthington has an interesting history. The community was created as part of a homestead project during the Great Depression under the authority of the National Industrial Recovery Act. The intent was to help improve the standard of living for families through subsistence agriculture and proximity to the cities which would allow for part-time industrial employment. This was one of five such communities created in Texas, but it is the only one that remains today and today’s residents enjoy the same rural appeal while maintaining convenient access to the cities and adjacent attractions.
